@SaraWolk, what should happen when mail arrives to that address?

Currently, such mail bounces or is lost.

Approval-ordered Llull (letter grades) [10], Score // Llull [9], Score, STAR, Approval, other rated Condorcet [8]; equal-ranked Condorcet [4]; strictly-ranked Condorcet [3]; everything else [0].

@jack-waugh Currently, I don't think that's an email we use, but it would be a good email to have. We could have it simply redirect mail to forum@equal.vote.

Where is the control to set up that email? On the Linode or on the site here?

@sarawolk, there are two reasons I mentioned both that address in particular and you in particular.

          • it looks as though you tried to mail to that address on Thu, 30 Mar 2023 20:26:04 +0000 (UTC).

          • if I recall correctly, you administered the forum to use this address as the return address on the mail it sends out. The prior value was theory@votingtheory.org, which is the user account under which the forum application runs. (Mail to that address probably wouldn't do anything worthwhile, either. I think it would just sit in the mailbox and no one would check it.)

I think I can arrange for the "forum" mail to be forwarded by editing the alias list of the Postfix mailer as installed on the Linode. I haven't touched such an alias file before, but I am sure I can look up how they work.

Completed with the help of ChatGPT.

/etc/aliases commands forwarding of "forum" mail to "theory".

            /home/theory/.forward commands forwarding to forum@equal.vote
